How Can I Help?

  1. By praying for us and with us: you can receive regular e-mail prayer requests by calling in your request to ext. 228, or Email Us. You can also join us at our monthly prayer meetings; dates are sent with prayer letter notices and appear on our Calendar of Events.
  2. By volunteering your time: there are many volunteer opportunities at CCO. From helping with newsletter mailouts to assisting at fundraisers and educational seminar events, we welcome volunteer support.  To find out more about this opportunity, please call ext. 228, or Email Us.
  3. By making a financial donation: Christian Counselling Ottawa is a registered charitable organization (#10780 5806 RR0001). Approximately 1/3 of our budget revenues come from donations. Most clients cannot pay the full cost of sessions. We use a sliding fee scale based on gross household income and number of people living on that income in order to ensure greater accessibility to our services, but this system only covers about 2/3 of our costs. Donations allow us to serve more clients by making up the difference between revenues from fees and overall costs.

Ways To Give:

• On-line through CanadaHelps.org. This can be used for a one-time donation or to set up a series of regular donations. Please note that the tax receipt is issued by Canada Helps, and that 3% of your donation will be used by Canada Helps for admininistration of the transaction. Christian Counselling Ottawa receives the donor name for donations made through Canada Helps.

• By sending a cheque by mail to: CCO, 151 Holland Avenue, Suite 200, Ottawa, ON  K1Y 0Y2

• By designating donations made through the United Way as specifically intended for Christian Counselling Ottawa*. Simply indicate on the back of the United Way pledge form that your donation is designated to Christian Counselling Ottawa. You must include our charitable registration # (10780 5806 RR0001). Please note that the tax receipt will be issued by United Way, that 11-18% of the donation will be retained as an administrative fee by the United Way, and that CCO will not be aware of the donor's name.

• By donating publicly listed shares.  A direct transfer of the shares is made from your institution to CCO’s brokerage account, and a tax receipt is issued for the value of the shares at the close of the day of transfer.  This form of donation is quite advantageous when the donor would face a capital gain if the shares were sold, as the current tax rules allow the donor to completely avoid capital gains on gifted shares. This is explained in detail at http://www.carters.ca/pub/bulletin/charity/2006/chylb94.htm.  For further information regarding transfers to our brokerage account, please call the Internal Admin Director at ext. 227.

* Please note: you can designate your donation to the relocation fund through each of these means except via the United Way.

"I live in the high holy places, but also with the low-spirited, the spirit-crushed. And what I do is put new spirit in them, get them up and on their way."
